Paper Writing = Perfect Time for Blogging

"Valuing some music means that you will reject other kinds. Not to do so is merely to be without values and without the power of judgement. It is to be a blank screen onto which all the contradictory images of the modern world can be freely and arbitrarily projected. It is to be powerless, uncritical and culpably irresponsible. It is, I suggest to be postmodern." - Julian Johnson

Good quote right? I am too lazy to update this thing anymore, so instead I've taken to leaving cryptic snatches of lyrics and quotes that I enjoy which that somehow vaguely overlap with what's happening out here in BG. Mmmm... Xanga blogging at it's finest :)

"1984" is a great read.  Extremely
disturbing and depressing, but still good.  It's interesting how
similar it is to Huxley's "Brave New World."  Both are about
totalitarian regimes where choice is an illusion, but the authors are
at polar opposites on How the regimes exert their control.  The regime
in "1984" persecutes their populace until they lose the will to think
independently, but the regime in "Brave New World" accomplishes the
same total control by pumping their populace with drugs, movies and
orgies.  The latter is my favorite of the two.  Read into it what you will .
